The Artist Profile
Joshua Mellody, better known as Zomboy, is a titan of modern dubstep. Hailing from Penzance, UK, Zomboy has spent over a decade defining the "brostep" and "riddim" soundscapes. What sets him apart is his surgical precision in sound design—often cited as the primary influence for the aggressive, high-energy dubstep that dominates festival mainstages today.

Why It's a Must-See
This isn't just a DJ set; it's a technical masterclass. Friday, Feb 20 marks the Chicago stop of the Rott N' Roll Tour, and Zomboy is known for bringing a customized audiovisual rig that synchronizes visual "glitches" with his notoriously complex bass growls.
The "Chicago Bass" Factor: Chicago crowds are famous for their energy during dubstep shows. Concord Music Hall provides a "sweet spot" capacity—large enough for a massive production rig, but intimate enough that you are never more than 50 feet from the subs.
Inside The Madness
- 01 Started his musical journey in technical metal bands, which explains his affinity for aggressive arrangements and complex rhythms.
- 02 His track "Terror Squad" famously influenced Skrillex's "All is Fair in Love and Brostep"—a moment that defined the mid-2010s dubstep era.
- 03 He is a classically trained sound engineer, having studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford.
- 04 The "Rott N' Roll" brand was born from his desire to keep the "rockstar" energy alive within electronic music.
The Lineup & Tour
The 2026 tour features a rotation of heavy-hitters from the bass community. While the full support for Chicago remains a closely guarded secret, expected openers include the rising stars of the Rott N' Roll Records roster—likely featuring high-tempo riddim and technical dubstep that will test the Concord's subwoofers before the King of Bass takes the stage.
Upcoming Tour Stops:
- Feb 20 - Chicago, IL (Concord Music Hall)
- Feb 21 - Detroit, MI (Royal Oak Music Theatre)
- Feb 27 - Denver, CO (Mission Ballroom)
- Mar 05 - Seattle, WA (Showbox SoDo)
Concord Music Hall: Pro Tips
Parking: Street parking in Wicker Park is a nightmare. Use the "SpotHero" app to book a space at the lot on Milwaukee Ave early, or take the Blue Line (Western Stop).
The Floor: The floor is scalable. For a Zomboy show, expect the middle section to be a high-energy mosh pit. If you want a clearer view with less "pushing," head to the raised platforms on the left and right sides of the sound booth.
Coat Check: Located downstairs. Lines get incredibly long after the show ends. If you can leave your jacket in a car, do it to save 30 minutes of waiting in the cold.
Survival: Bring high-fidelity earplugs. Concord is an enclosed concrete box; the bass reflections can be punishing on your hearing.
